Fireworks? Why? NYC/NJ Twitter Lights Up With Questions Again (PHOTOS)

Booms that make you go Hmmmm...a round of fireworks during a sudden rainstorm on Thursday night had Manhattan and Hoboken guessing again.

HOBOKEN, NJ — Another day, another round of loud fireworks for people to complain and speculate about. Thursday's round of explosives in the New York City/Hoboken area began around 9:40 p.m. during a sudden rainstorm, leading some to speculate that the noises were thunder.

A thread under the @nyc_fireworks account included videos of fireworks being shot off over the Hudson River.

Some people blamed the @fireworks_NYC Twitter account by not warning them, but that account is run by a volunteer who doesn't work for New York City.

After taking some ribbing, the account owner posted:
