“Significant flooding in area of 9th and Madison as well as Shop Rite. Please avoid this area if possible. Contacted NHSA who is working in area to mitigate.”
Hoboken city officials stated on Facebook:
"Street cleaning enforcement is suspended due to flooding for Monday, April 16 and is scheduled to resume on Tuesday, April 17. The City of Hoboken will provide reduced rate $5 per day parking in municipal Garage B (located on 2nd Street between Hudson and River Streets) and Garage D (215 Hudson Street) for residents with a valid Resident parking permit or Temporary parking permit placard now through Monday, April 16th at 8:00 p.m. In addition, Hoboken residents with disabilities who possess either a handicapped license plate or hang tag for their permitted vehicle may also park in the Midtown garage (371 4th Street) for the same reduced rate. Garage parking space is limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis. When discounted parking is offered, garages frequently fill before the start of the discount period. Residents who wish to park in the garage outside of the discounted hours will be charged the regular garage fees during non-discount hours."
According to the Hoboken Fire Department, two boats were pushed up against the rocks at Hoboken Cove as waters swelled, damaging both vessels. There was no “life hazard,” the HFD wrote.
“We will continue to work with @USCG_Tri_State to mitigate the damage,” the HFD stated.
Hoboken City Council member Tiffanie Fisher wrote Monday:
"Thank you Hoboken @Hoboken Fire! People should really think twice about mooring their boats in this cove. It looks like the blue / orange boat is now in the underwater boat graveyard with the others since Hur. Sandy. Free mooring = You get what you pay for."
