Filmmaker John Sayles' Hoboken Home Gets 'Multiple' Offers: Peek Inside
A Hoboken townhome owned by the family of indie filmmaker John Sayles was listed recently. Peek inside.
HOBOKEN, NJ — An uptown Hoboken townhome that was once owned by filmmaker John Sayles — then sold to his nephew — is now under contract to be sold to new owners.
Sayles directed a series of successful indie films in the 1980s while living in Hoboken, including "Return of the Secaucus Seven" and "Baby It's You."
Sharon Shahinian, the listing agent for the home on 13th Street, said Sayles and his family have owned the rowhome since the 1980s. The home was sold to Sayles' nephew in 2022.

The three-bedroom, two-bathroom residence at 210 13th St. features three floors and a partially finished basement.

"The light in the home gives it a special magic, as there is no obstruction in the back," Shahinian said. "It is open air space."

According to a description provided by Shahinian, the main level features pumpkin pine plank flooring and high ceilings. The primary bedroom has wood shelving, custom closets, and a built-in desk space.
"Off the kitchen is a relaxed living/dining room with parquet flooring, complemented by a stunning Mexican tile full bath," the listing notes. "The parlor level is warm and inviting"
The home, built in 1901, was listed in late January for $2.5 million.
It sold in only two days, right around the time of the major snowstorm last month, Shahinian said.
She said the purchase price was above the $2.5 million, but she can't reveal the amount.
"The home had multiple offers on the weekend of the massive snowstorm," she said, "and is expected to close April 1."
