Former Hoboken High School Teacher Passes Away
Jersey City native Francis J. Scott was a former teacher at Hoboken High School, his obituary says.

HOBOKEN, NJ — Francis J. Scott, a former teacher at Hoboken High School, passed away last week.
The following obituary comes via the Oliverie Funeral Home:
“Francis J Scott, “Scotty”, 77, of Manchester, NJ, passed away Friday, March 17, 2017, at Jersey Shore Medical Center in Neptune, NJ.

“He was born in Jersey City, raised in Hoboken, and resided in Woodcliff Lake for 30 years before moving to Manchester in 2008. He served in the Marine Corps from 1957-1959.
“Scotty worked at Hoboken High School for 38 years before retiring, where he was a history and English teacher, athletic director, coach, advisor, and ran the alternative program.

“In his lifetime, he enjoyed skydiving with a registered 67 jumps, mountain climbing the Grand Tetons, obtained his private pilot’s license, and also was an avid Indy race car fan.
“He was a devoted and caring husband, father, PopPop, brother, and friend. Scotty is survived by his wife Elsa of 45 years, son Jay and his wife Nicole of New York, NY, two daughters, Stacy Scott of Boca Raton, FL, and Lauren Gutierrez and her husband Greg of Bridgewater, NJ, brother Kenneth Scott of River Edge, NJ, and two grandchildren, Brielle Elsa and Drew Scott Gutierrez.
“In lieu of flowers, donations would be appreciated to either St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude’s Place, Memphis, TN, 38105, or Disabled American Veterans, PO Box 14301, Cincinnati, OH, 45250-0301.”
