Four Vie For Seats On Hoboken School Board

HOBOKEN, NJ — Four people are running for three seats on the Hoboken Board of Education. The election will take place on Nov. 4.

Three three-year seats are open on the nine-member board.

Incumbents Sharyn Angley and Sheila Dallara are running with Adrian Oxman on one slate.

Past candidate Patricia Waiters is also running under the banner Deep Down Democrat.

The four successfully filed forms to run by the deadline on Monday at 4 p.m.

The Hoboken school district has a high school, middle school, and three elementary schools.

The three charter schools in town are considered separate districts, although the Hoboken board may influence some decisions regarding the charter schools.

Facilities Planning Meeting Set

The district has planned several information sessions for the public this summer, including a Long Range Facilities Planning Meeting on Aug. 11.

In 2021, the district proposed a $241 million plan to build a new high school and renovate other buildings, but it was voted down in a referendum in 2022 after much debate.
