Authorities have released the identity of a New York man who jumped to his death from the George Washington Bridge on Thursday morning.
Authorities have released the identity of a New York man who jumped to his death from the George Washington Bridge on Thursday morning.
According to Port Authority spokesman Joe Pentangelo, Michael Engelson, 31, of Hastings-on-Hudson, jumped from the bridge’s upper level, mid-span.
Emergency crews performed CPR on the man, who police spotted in the Hudson River at about 11:20 a.m., Pentangelo said.

Engelson was pronounced dead at Mount Sinai St. Luke’s Hospital in New York City, Pentangelo said.
A black Subaru belonging to Engelson was located at 172 Street in Manhattan, according to Pentangelo.

It was the 18th confirmed suicide from the bridge this year, the same number of suicides that were reported in 2014, according to police.
