Hazardous Weather Outlook Issued For Hoboken Area; See New Flooding Map

HUDSON COUNTY, NJ — Several days of rain have been predicted for Hudson County this week, with more than 2 inches of rain predicted Wednesday into Thursday.

As a result, the National Weather Service has updated its "significant river flooding" prediction map (above). They have also issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook for Hudson County.

The outlook says, "The Weather Prediction Center has placed the region in a marginal to slight risk of Excessive Rainfall for Wednesday and Wednesday night. The potential exists for mainly localized impacts from flash flooding."

Among high tides this week, the highest will be 5 feet on Friday morning and 5.2 feet on Saturday morning, making flooding more likely than usual.

Late last year, the map showed "likely" flooding, and several towns in North Jersey suffered from flooding. So far, the map only shows that flooding is "possible," but it may be updated later this week.
