Santa Float Postponed In Hoboken Because Of Forecast

Santa Claus will now float through Hoboken Sunday, Dec. 18 because of rain (and maybe a bit of snow) in the forecast. See the forecast here.

HOBOKEN, NJ — Santa Claus and his elves will return to Hoboken this Sunday, Dec. 18, to visit the community on a float.

The event is being postponed from Sunday, Dec. 11 due to rain in the forecast. (The National Weather Service also says the area could get a bit of wet snow Sunday night into Monday morning, with "little to no" accumulation.)

The forecast for Sunday, Dec. 11 is:

Sunday: Rain, mainly after 1pm. High near 43. East wind 7 to 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80 percent. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.

Sunday Night: Rain before 4 a.m., then a chance of rain and snow. Low around 35. North wind 7
to 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80 percent. Little or no snow accumulation expected.

Santa's Route On Dec. 18

Thanks a partnership with the Hoboken Business Alliance, Santa will begin his route on Jefferson Street between 14th Street and 15th Street at 11 a.m.

The Jolly One will wind his way throughout Hoboken until approximately 3 p.m.

Santa will make three pit stops along the route to take photos with residents: at Seventh and Monroe Streets, Church Square Park, and 11th and Washington Street.

Holiday Extravaganza Coming Up

On Sunday, Dec. 18, residents and visitors can enjoy the Holiday Extravaganza presented by the Hoboken Business Alliance and Main Street Pops from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., featuring local artisans and small businesses offering unique gifts for everyone.
