Hoboken 'Coffee With A Cop' Series Succeeds: 2nd Event Announced

Hoboken, NJ – While the concept of having “coffee and pastries” with the Hoboken Police Department may inspire an inevitable donut joke, the department’s Coffee With A Cop event is a seriously effective way to reach out to the local community, city officials say.

On Thursday, March 10, the HPD will host its 2nd Coffee With A Cop session from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Stacks Pancake House, 506 Washington Street.

According to organizers, the free, public event brings police officers and the community members they serve together – over coffee – to “discuss issues, learn more about each other, and strengthen community ties.”

In attendance at the meeting will be Hoboken Police Chief Ken Ferrante, Captain Tory Pasculli, Lieutenant James Marnell, Sergeant Cesar Olavarria and Officer Juan Madera, along with Mayor Dawn Zimmer.

“Residents are invited to discuss any law enforcement or policing issues at the local, regional or national level,” police stated in a news release.

The HPD’s first Coffee With A Cop event – held on Feb. 24 – inspired several positive comments from locals on social media.

“I think it's an incredibly positive effort to build relationships and a stronger community,” one commenter wrote. “Looking forward to hearing more about the wonderful progress that Chief Ferrante and our amazing police officers bring to our community.”

“This is a great idea,” agreed another commenter. “I wish more communities around the country would do this, could potentially solve a lot of problems.”
