Hoboken Cops Arrest Accused Airbnb Burglar On 13th Street

A Jersey City man was arrested after he allegedly burglarized two rooms at an Airbnb in Hoboken, authorities said.

HOBOKEN, NJ — A Jersey City man was arrested after he allegedly burglarized two rooms at an Airbnb in Hoboken last week, authorities said.

According to the Hoboken Police Department, officers received a call about a burglary in progress at an apartment on the 100-block of 13th Street at 8:05 a.m. on Wednesday, July 10.

Officers soon arrived on the scene and gained access to the apartment, which is used as an Airbnb with two bedrooms for rent and one room occupied by the actual tenant. Hoboken police conducted an investigation, eventually arresting one of the renters, Johnny Suarez, 35 of Jersey City, authorities said.

According to police, Suarez was seen by the tenant and two renters of the second Airbnb entering their respective rooms and taking their property. Officers found Suarez in possession of items from all three victims.

Suarez allegedly tried to resist arrest as officers tried to handcuff him. He was also in possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia at the time, police said.

Police charged Suarez with two counts of burglary, three counts of theft, resisting arrest, possession of CDS (marijuana) and possession of paraphernalia. The charges were placed on a warrant and Suarez was remanded to the Hudson County Correctional Facility.
