Hoboken Cops Assaulted By Man In Brace, Boyfriend/Girlfriend
Hoboken Police: A man tried to bash officers with a metal brace on his arm. A couple from Woodland Park brawled with several cops.

HOBOKEN, NJ — Barely a week after dealing with an invasion of hundreds of boozing, brawling “Santas,” Hoboken police again found themselves facing down multiple assaults, authorities say.
According to the Hoboken Police Department, there were two, separate assaults on officers last week. Authorities said that one incident involved a man who tried to bash the officers with a metal brace on his arm, and the other involved a boyfriend and girlfriend from Woodland Park.
The first incident took place on Christmas Eve around 3:08 a.m. when officers on patrol saw “pushing and shoving” in the area of 74 Hudson Street. The officers on scene spoke with Vincent Bordano, 24, of Woodland Park, who said that someone struck his girlfriend, Eileen Boyce, 30, also of Woodland Park.

Due to Boyce’s alleged high level of intoxication, officers requested medical assistance. Bordano, a former U.S. Marine, didn’t want her to go to the hospital and tried to pull his girlfriend away from the officers, police said.
A physical struggle ensued between Bordano, Boyce and the officers. One officer was bit, kicked and took a knee to the head, suffering a head injury and cuts, police said. The other officers did not sustain serious injuries during the encounter.

Bordano and Boyce were treated for minor cuts and intoxication, police said. Authorities charged both with Aggravated Assault on a Police Officer, Resisting Arrest and Obstruction.

MAN TRIES TO BASH COPS WITH ARM BRACE
Another incident involving police assault took place shortly after midnight on Wednesday, authorities said.
During that encounter, which took place near 1 Republik on Washington Street, officers responded to the scene after receiving a report about an alleged fight and a person with a knife.
According to police, Christopher Spillane, 28, of New York City, was arrested after leaving the bar “in an agitated state” and striking the glass with what appeared to be a knife, but turned out to be just a fork.
Spillane, who was wearing a metal brace on his arm at the time due to a preexisting injury, allegedly fled the scene afterwards, but was later found by officers and arrested. He put up a struggle as officers tried to put him in a police car and tried to bash them with his arm brace, authorities said.
Spillane allegedly continued assaulting officers while being processed at police headquarters, continuously dropping to the floor, kicking an officer in the face, and striking another officer in the eye, authorities said.
None of the officers sustained serious injuries during the encounter, police said.
Spillane was eventually transported to Hoboken University Medical Center for treatment, but not before threatening to return later and shoot one of the officers, authorities said.
Police charged Spillane with two counts of Aggravated Assault on Law Enforcement, Terroristic Threats, Possession of a Weapon for Unlawful Purpose, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon and Resisting Arrest.
