Hoboken Events: Broadway Lighting Director Will Light Show At Maxwell’s

Broadway Lighting Designer Christopher Robinson will team up with Sylvana Joyce and The Moment at Maxwell's Tavern in Hoboken.

HOBOKEN, NJ — Broadway Lighting Designer Christopher Robinson will be taking a night off as head electrician for the hit musical “Hamilton” to light choreograph a live show for Jersey City indie band “Sylvana Joyce and The Moment” at Maxwell’s Tavern in Hoboken at 9 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 8.

The Balkan folk and theatrically infused rock band will be celebrating the release of their sophomore record, “Heavyhead,” according to a news release.

“I had a mentor who opened all sorts of doors for me when I was getting into this industry, and I’m happy to be able to pass that help on,” Robinson said.

The idea to collaborate first came when NYC native Joyce, who teaches piano and voice to Robinson’s two daughters, shared some of her music with him.

“I remember very casually passing my music links to him, thinking nothing of it,” Joyce said. “At the time, I didn’t even know that he worked on Broadway, forget that he was actually working on a production that has had such a profound effect on Broadway and America.”
