Hoboken Fire Claims Cat’s Life, 6 Residents Displaced

HOBOKEN, NJ — Although a resident lost a beloved pet, a quick response from Hoboken emergency responders helped to prevent any other serious injuries during a two-alarm blaze at a three-story building on Newark Street last weekend, authorities say.
The fire started around 10 a.m. on Saturday on the second floor of 55 Newark Street, which houses two residential units and businesses including Papaya Dog, NJ.com stated.
In addition to the sad loss of a resident’s cat, six occupants of the building were displaced as a result of the fire, city officials said.

Authorities are investigating the cause of the blaze, the report stated.
Emergency responders on the scene included the Hoboken fire and police departments, the Hoboken Volunteer Ambulance Corps and Office of Emergency Management, and the North Hudson Regional Fire Department.
