Hoboken city officials issued the following statement about the flooding around 4 p.m. on Friday:
"Hoboken’s two flood pumps with a combined capacity of 180 million gallons per day were operational during today’s storm, however the intense rainfall rate of more than 3 inches in a few hours was more than the capacity of the sewer system and pumps. The pumps will continue to operate which will allow the water to recede. Crews have begun the post-storm cleanup."
