Hoboken Guitarists To Make Record Attempt: ‘World’s Largest Band’ (VIDEO)

HOBOKEN, NJ — Hopefully, five will be a charm when the Guitar Bar in Hoboken spearheads their annual attempt to break the record for “The World’s Largest Band” at Sinatra Park on Thursday, July 20.

They’ll need almost 1,000 musicians to do it. According to Hoboken city officials, the Guinness Book of World Records lists 953 participants in Beijing, China as the current record.

According to city news release, this year’s record attempt takes place on the Guitar Bar’s 20th anniversary. Registration begins at 6 p.m., and the event takes place from 7 to 9 p.m.

Pickers and strummers won’t need to know many chords to take part in this year’s effort, which will center around a performance of the Bob Dylan staple, “Knockin’ On Heaven’s Door.”
