Hoboken High School Student Wins Full Scholarship To University Of Virginia
7,000 seniors compete to be Jefferson Scholars at the University of Virginia. Only 30 are selected. One is from Hoboken.

HOBOKEN, NJ — Hoboken High School senior Natasha Anderson has been named a Jefferson Scholar at the University of Virginia, which will reward her with full tuition, room, board, and enrichment funding.
Approximately 7,000 students are nominated nationwide each year, with about 30 selected after a rigorous interview process.
Selection for the Jefferson Scholarship is based on academic excellence, leadership, character, and a demonstrated commitment to serving others.

Scholars become part of a community of students known for their intellectual curiosity and potential to contribute to society.
Anderson was also recently recognized as an AP Scholar with Distinction by the College Board. This award is given to students who achieve exceptional performance across multiple Advanced Placement exams, typically earning scores of 3 or higher on at least five AP exams, with an overall average score of at least 3.5.

Anderson expressed both excitement and gratitude.
“This is a huge honor and I’m feeling really, really excited,” she said. “I feel that some of the credit has to go to the wonderful teachers I’ve had at Hoboken High. I especially want to thank Mr. Huggins for taking time out of his day to help me come up with essay ideas, and Ms. Gleason who has always been incredibly helpful whenever I needed it.”
Hoboken High School Principal Robin Piccapietra said, “Natasha Anderson’s accomplishments are truly remarkable." She said the administrators and faculty are proud of the example Anderson sets for her peers.
