Hoboken High softball shut out in states

Red Wings see season end with loss to Secaucus in quarterfinals.

The Hoboken High softball team saw its season come to an end after being defeated by Secaucus 6-0 in the quarterfinals of the NJSIAA North 2, Group 1 tournament at JFK Stadium.

The fourth-seeded Red Wings were never able to figure out Secaucus pitcher Danielle Roesing. Thanks Roesing's pitching and a good defense behind her, Hoboken was held to just three hits in defeat. Roesing struck out five and held the Red Wings without a baserunner over the final four innings.

Fifth-seeded Secaucus took the lead in the second inning with a three-run homer from right fielder Jessie Koerner. The visiting Patriots would add to their lead with two more runs in the fourth and one in the fifth.
