HOBOKEN, NJ — The annual Hoboken Literary Weekend starts Friday at Little City Books, Hoboken's independent bookstore — with author readings, a comedy show, a young-adult books panel, and a performance by a legendary guitarist.

Tickets for the in-person appearance by guitarist, songwriter, and Fairport Convention founder Richard Thompson — in which he'll read from his new memoir and perform — are sold out. However, tickets to see the event virtually are available (and you get a signed book). Thompson will be talking with musician James Mastro.

Other authors who will read this weekend include John Scalzi, Alex Wellerstein, Weike Wang, Kristin Valdez Quade, Fintan O'Toole, Colm Toibin, and playwright John Eric Scutchins.

The owners of the shop noted in a message to customers, "The bookstore will be kind of crazy from 3 p.m. Friday, turning into a theater — if you need a book please purchase online so we can have it bagged up for you by the front door. You're welcome to come in, but browsing will be a bit limited. The Children's Annex will be open as usual."

The events run Friday through Sunday. Tickets are here: Get your tickets.
