Hoboken May Create ‘University District’ Around Stevens Institute
The Hoboken City Council is considering an ordinance that would create a special district around Stevens Institute of Technology. (MAP)

HOBOKEN, NJ — Is it in the City of Hoboken’s best interest to create a “University District” around the campus of Stevens Institute of Technology? That’s the question that the City Council will tackle during a special public meeting on Wednesday.
Hoboken Councilmember Jen Giattino sent an email on Tuesday in advance of the meeting. She wrote that a first reading for the proposed ordinance – with a second reading/vote to follow on another date – will be held on Wednesday, July 25 at 7 p.m. in the City Council Chambers at 94 Washington Street.
