Hoboken Mayor Raises Eyebrows With Rant Against 'Dog S---' In The Snow

Hoboken Mayor Jabbour's video against doggie-do in the snow became a "scoop" in the national media.

HOBOKEN, NJ — Hoboken residents have complained about dog-do for decades, but the new mayor attained more publicity for the issue last week by posting a steamed rant about steamy piles in the snow.

"Hoboken, your dog is cute," Jabbour said. "This is not. This is a PSA that I don't believe I'm making. Hoboken, you need to clean up your dog's s---."

"I've seen it with my own eyes," Jabbour added. "Snow does not melt dog s---."

The video got more than 23,000 views and made it to the national press, including The Sun, which covered the issue as an amusement.

But the fines are no joke — as are the heath risks. Dog waste can contain parasites and bacteria.

The city will fine pet owners up to $2,000 if they fail to clean up their doodles'...doodles.

Jabbour also pointed out that Hoboken has dozens of pet waste stations around town that dispense poo-bags.

Jabbour, incidentally, is not the first Hoboken mayor to make worldwide news over bodily functions. In the 1990s, then-Mayor Anthony Russo spoke to the British press for raising fines for bar patrons arrested for public urination. Some were forced to do community service.
