Hoboken Mutzfest To Include Cannoli Eating Contest, Sinatra Event

The annual mozzarella celebration raises money for charity and will include a Frank Sinatra sing-a-long and cannoli contest.

HOBOKEN, NJ — Several of Hoboken's delis are known for their fresh mozzarella cheese — soft, milky, and much better than what you find in a supermarket. But whose "mutz" is the best? It's a matter of debate. One classic deli in Frank Sinatra's old neighborhood drew long lines starting at 3:30 a.m. Christmas Eve. But some will argue for any of the other establishments in town that also knead their fresh mutz on-site.

This year's annual charity event, Hoboken Mutzfest, will offer mozzarella from five local establishments, allowing samplers to determine their favorites. The event will also include a cannoli eating contest and Frank Sinatra sing-a-long.

Proceeds from the event benefit the Hoboken Family Alliance and its numerous local community initiatives, including the Hoboken Bike Camp for individuals with disabilities.
