In Hoboken: Plumber Attacks Bar Patron With Pint Glass and Butter Knife

Man flees scene with female companion; Victim calls cops then gives chase.

A barroom dispute led to the arrest of a plumber from New York after he allegedly attacked another patron with a pint glass and a butter knife at 1Republik on Sunday evening.

According to police, Luis Feliu, 40, of New York, got into a dispute with the male victim “over a female.” The dispute then took a violent turn when Feliu threw a pint glass at the victim, striking him and causing lacerations to the left side of his neck and his ear.

Feliu then grabbed a butter knife, but the bar’s employees were able to separate the two men without further injuries.

When Feliu left the bar with a female companion in a red Toyota, the victim called police then followed his assailant north on Washington Street.

Hoboken police stopped both vehicles soon afterwards, and emergency workers transported the victim to Hoboken University Medical Center.

Police arrested Feliu and his female companion, charging Feliu with aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose. He also had a warrant out of Union City for $2,500. Unable to satisfy his $25,000 bail, Feliu was transported to Hudson County Correctional Facility.

The female driver was charged with obstructing the administration of law.
