Hoboken Police Arrest 3 People For DWI In Separate Incidents
Police say that in one incident, a man accidentally drove into a snow bank, collided with a police car, and stopped in front of police HQ.

HOBOKEN, NJ — The Hoboken police charged three men were charged with driving while under the influence or driving while intoxicated over the weekend in separate incidents, they said. In one incident, a man allegedly collided into a police car and came to a stop in front of police headquarters.
Collision with a police car
Police said that on Saturday around 1:57 a.m., Hoboken Police Officer Harry Montalvo observed a white Chevy traveling the wrong way on First Street from River Street. As both cars approached Hudson Street, Montalvo activated his emergency lights and attempted to conduct a motor vehicle stop. The operator of the vehicle made a right turn onto Hudson and struck a pile of snow, police said.

The driver then reversed his vehicle and collided with Officer Montalvo’s police vehicle, police said. The driver then proceeded forward and pulled over in front of Hoboken Police Headquarters at 106 Hudson St., police said.
The operator was identified as Roy Sanchez, 28, from Secaucus. Officer Daniel Grossi responded and conducted a standardized field sobriety test. Grossi determined that Sanchez was unable to safely operate a motor vehicle, police said. Sanchez was placed under arrest for driving while intoxicated.

Sanchez provided breath samples and his results were twice over the legal limit, police said. Sanchez was issued motor vehicle summonses for driving while intoxicated, reckless driving, and possession of open container of alcoholic beverage in motor vehicle passenger compartment, police said. Sanchez was released to a responsible party.

Accident and marijuana
Also on Saturday, police arrested Nasir Ladson, 24, of Hoboken after a motor vehicle crash, they said.
Police say that at 6:27 p.m., Officer Arturo Gonzalez responded to a crash in the area of 15th and Clinton streets, near the north end of town. Gonzalez found two vehicles involved in the crash. He spoke to both operators and suspected one of them to be under the influence of an intoxicant, police said. That man was identified as Ladson.
Gonzalez smelled burnt marijuana emanating from Ladson and raw marijuana emanating from the passenger compartment of the vehicle, police said.
Officer Anthony Rutkowski responded and conducted a standardized field sobriety test. Officer Rutkowski determined that Ladson was unable to safely operate a motor vehicle. Ladson was placed under arrest for driving while under the influence. A search of Ladson’s vehicle revealed a clear plastic bag containing suspect marijuana, police said.
The operator of the other vehicle complained of neck and back pain. She was treated by Hoboken EMS and did not wish to go to the hospital.
Ladson was issued the following motor vehicle summons: driving while under the influence, reckless driving, driving with a revoked driver’s license, and possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle.
Ladson was also charged on a summons with assault by auto, possession of controlled dangerous substance marijuana, and drug paraphernalia. Ladson was released to a responsible party.
A stop after a stop sign
Police said that on Monday, they arrested Lazaro Wilson, 27, from Union City, at Seventh and Jackson streets at 4:59 a.m. They charged him with driving while intoxicated, reckless driving, and failure to stop.
Police said that around 4:54 a.m., Police Officer Jesse Castellano observed a motor vehicle failing to stop at a posted stop sign in the area of Fifth and Jackson streets, police said. Castellano conducted a motor vehicle stop. Police Officer Daniel Barron arrived as a backup.
Castellano approached the operator and suspected he was under the influence of an intoxicant, police said.
Police Officer Harold Milne responded and conducted a standardized field sobriety test. Officer Milne determined that Wilson was unable to safely operate a motor vehicle and placed him under arrest for driving while intoxicated. Wilson provided the necessary breath samples and his results were twice the legal limit, police said. Wilson was released to a responsible party.
These defendants are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
