Hoboken Seeks $4.8 Million Loan to Construct Southwest Resiliency Park

City will hold public hearing to solicit feedback on project.

Hoboken city officials announced that the municipality will seek a $4.8 million loan to finance the construction of Southwest Resiliency Park.

The proposed park would be located on Block 12, Lots 1-7, 9 and 12-18. According to a release, it would feature passive recreational space, green infrastructure (such as rain gardens, shade tree pits, porous pavers, a cistern for rainwater harvesting and reuse) and an underground detention system to reduce stormwater run-off and localized flooding.

The city engineer’s estimate of probable construction costs is approximately $3,676,967. The City’s low-interest loan application to the New Jersey Environmental Infrastructure Trust, including a 20 percent contingency, is for a total not-to-exceed amount of $4,840,151.
