HOBOKEN, NJ — Sure you’re tough, Hoboken. But can you beat a three-mile urban obstacle course that includes jumping over police cars, climbing walls and scaling a 30-foot cargo net?

That’s what it will take to complete the City Challenge Obstacle Race, a unique fundraising race through the Mile Square City on Saturday, Oct. 1 that will temporarily transform Hoboken's picturesque waterfront into an “urban obstacle course.”

According to event organizers, challenges include jumping over police cars, climbing walls, monkey bars, a 12 ft. rope climb, sand bag carry, water jugs and a 30-foot cargo net.

Hoboken Mayor Dawn Zimmer has agreed to serve as the race’s grand marshall, and will also take up the challenge as a participant.

“I’m delighted to play a leading role in this event to help such an important cause,” Zimmer said. “Learning to face, and overcome obstacles is essential to life, and Big Brothers Big Sisters and their mentors are helping young people develop the tools they’ll need to meet future challenges - whatever they are - successfully.”

The race is slated to take place from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., beginning at 100 Sinatra Drive. For more information, click here.
