NJ Lawyer Accused Of Boston Rapes Charged In More Attacks: Report

HUDSON COUNTY, NJ — The Weehawken lawyer charged with multiple rapes in Boston more than a decade ago has been indicted on charges he attacked four more women, according to the Associated Press.

Matthew Nilo, 35, now faces an accusation that he attacked one woman twice in an 11-day period, according to the Wednesday report.

Nilo was charged with rape, aggravated rape, assault with intent to rape, and indecent assault, reports show. The charges were in connection with five attacks on four women.

The attorney must return to court in Boston to respond to the new charges on July 13. He has pleaded not guilty on the prior charges.

Nilo was arrested in his Weehawken home on May 30 after Boston investigators — relying on recent DNA technology and a drinking glass — tied him to four attacks in 2007 and 2008, reports show.

Nilo was able to post $500,000 bail in Boston two weeks ago and agreed to wear a monitoring bracelet, surrender his passport, and stay away from the area where the incidents were reported.

His arrest made international headlines last month due to the use of new technology for crime-solving, and the fact that he was, until recently, employed as a cyber-attorney in New York City.

One 2007 rape victim told the media earlier this month that she was disappointed that Nilo was freed on bail, but glad he was captured. She said that at the time of her attack, she was a club promoter in Boston. She said a man pulled up to her and offered her a ride. She declined, then realized he had a gun.

Police are now trying to connect Nilo — who grew up in Boston and attended the prestigious Boston Latin School — to crimes near other places where he had lived and attended school. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin and went to law school in San Francisco, according to his LinkedIn page, which was deleted this month.

He was recently engaged, according to a Facebook post that has also been deleted.
