Hudson County Now Offering COVID-19 Vaccinations To Kids 5-11

The Pfizer vaccines for children are being offered as are regular doses and booster shots of the COVID-19 vaccines at various locations.

HOBOKEN, NJ — Hudson County health officials announced Wednesday that they have started administering the COVID-19 vaccines to children ages 5-11 on Wednesday at locations around the county.

These shots, along with first and second doses of the COVID-19 shots are being offered as are booster shots to those who are eligible. The county is encouraging appointments to be made, but they are not required.

Hudson County officials reported Thursday that they had administered 30 doses of the Pfizer vaccine to children ages 5-11 on Wednesday on the first day the vaccines were approved for distribution for that age group.

“We are thrilled to see so many parents already bringing their children to get their vaccine at the Hudson County Vaccine Distribution Center,” Hudson County Executive Tom DeGise said in a statement released by the county.

“As Hudson County families are transitioning back to in-person learning, and many parents are going back to work, approval of the Pfizer vaccine for kids will make a huge difference in our ability to continue to recover safely from the pandemic. We are fully prepared to hit the ground running and ensure that all kids ages 5 and over have access to these life saving vaccines.”

The USS Juneau vaccination site, located at 110 Hackensack Ave. in Kearney, is a drive-thru vaccination site which means that residents must stay in their vehicles at all times. People who are not in a vehicle cannot receive the shot. Lyft is providing free and discounted rides to and from vaccination appointments, county health officials said. Residents may call 211 up to four hours before their appointment to schedule a ride.

Moderna, Pfizer-BioNTech and J&J/Janssen COVID-19 vaccine are available Hudson County sites. Boosters and third doses are also available. Advance registration is highly encouraged, and residents are able to sign up at this site. If residents cannot make an appointment, walk in for shots on the available dates listed.
