Hudson County Weather Warning: OEM Says Urban Flooding Possible

The Hudson County Office of Emergency Management is predicting heavy rain, flooding, 50 mph winds and lightning for Wednesday.

Hoboken, NJ – The Hudson County Office of Emergency Management issued a special weather advisory at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 24.

According to the OEM, a cold front with associated low pressure will bring periods of rain Wednesday to Thursday morning. Some of the rain may be heavy at times and may produce urban flooding in low lying and poor drainage areas.

“A strong cold front is expected to cross the region tonight, accompanied by additional heavy rainfall, strong winds and possible cloud to ground lightning,” the OEM stated.

In addition, there is a high wind alert for wind gusts that may reach 40 to 50 mph on Wednesday.

“These winds can damage tree and power lines,” the OEM advised. “Anything loose outdoors should be either secured or brought indoors.”
