Italian Festival Returns To Hoboken With New Location, Fireworks, Grape Stomping, Bands
The 2022 Feast of the Madonna dei Martiri in Hoboken will include 4 days of live music, fireworks, and a grape stomping contest.
HOBOKEN, NJ — Now that the St. Ann's Festival in Hoboken has concluded, it's time to plan for the other big traditional festival in Hoboken each summer, the Hoboken Italian Festival — which will be at a new location this year.
The 2022 Feast of the Madonna dei Martiri will take place over four days at the "perfect spot," organizers say, at Hoboken's south waterfront.
It will take place at Sinatra Drive Promenade from Newark Street north to Second Street, an easy walk from the Hoboken Train Terminal.

It will include a variety of food, live music, games, displays, and traditions.
The Ciao USA Fireworks Extravaganza has been scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 10, at 9 p.m. at Pier A, the pier that juts into the Hudson River at the foot of the waterfront.

A Few Other Highlights:
- The opening ceremony will take place at 5 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 8.
- Sunday, Sept. 11, will include an annual grape stomp contest.
- There is a full lineup of entertainment Saturday from 12:15 p.m. until 11 p.m., and some acts on other days. The music schedule is here.
As the website notes, "The tradition of the Madonna Dei Martiri goes back to 1399. Ladislao di Durazzo, King of Napoli, ordered the Street festival & Religious celebration be combined to celebrate the 'Miracle' and blessings of the Madonna."
