'Jersey City Birds' Art Show Will Be Part Of JC Fridays Events This Week

JERSEY CITY, NJ — Did you know that there's a birding community amid the densely populated cities of Hudson County, and it overlaps with the arts community? If you want to see the best of both worlds, you might check out a festive art exhibit this Friday.

As part of the "JC Fridays" quarterly art shows held in Jersey City, the Jersey City Birds group is displaying local artists' photographs and other renderings of birds seen in the area. They launched a call for submissions earlier this year.

The "Birds of a Feather" exhibit is being presented by West Side Arts & Music and Jersey City Birds on Friday, June 7.

At least 40 artists will participate.

"Join us for a flocking good time!" they said. "Art by local artists and birders on the patio. Local ska sensation the Penniless Loafers in the bar."

Visitors can buy some of the artwork, but it's also there to show that nature constantly soars amid city life.

The event takes place at the New Park Tavern, 575 West Side Ave, Jersey City, 7 p.m. to 12 a.m.

JC Fridays also has more than a dozen other art and music events this Friday, including a community paint pouring event and a Photography Club exhibit. Find out more here.
