Lightning Strikes In Hoboken: Photographer Snaps Cool Storm Pic
A Hoboken Cove Community Boathouse board member captured an amazing storm photo on his phone.

HOBOKEN, NJ — It was Tuesday, Aug. 7, and the Ke Aloha Outrigger Canoe team had just cancelled their evening practice at Hoboken Cove. Some of the paddlers were sheltering inside the Hoboken Cove Community Boathouse during the storm. Suddenly, a huge bolt of lightning leapt across the sky.
And that’s how Boathouse board member Oscar Hernandez captured an amazing storm photo on his phone, President Jon Miller told Patch.
The cove wasn’t the only spot in Hoboken that saw lightning in the sky on Tuesday. The Don’t Sit Home blog posted the below video of “a storm a-brewin’ in Hoboken."

Across New Jersey, the storm left thousands without power and closed dozens of roads. Lightning strikes were also seen at JFK International Airport in New York, as illustrated in a Port Authority PBA Twitter post (see below).
