Longtime Hoboken Crossing Guard Retires: Margaret O'Brien Leaves 11th and Washington Post

The corner of 11th and Washington in Hoboken is now missing a familiar face.

Hoboken, NJ – The corner of 11th and Washington is now missing a familiar face… Margaret O’Brien.

Hoboken city officials announced the longtime Hoboken crossing guard’s retirement last week.

“Thank you to Margaret O’Brien for serving the City of Hoboken as a dedicated crossing guard since 1968,” city officials stated on a social media post.

“Margaret O’Brien is a Hoboken original,” Hoboken411 reported in 2008. “The crossing guard at 11th and Washington is known for her knowledge of Hoboken history, appearances at city meetings and letters to local newspapers.”
