UNION CITY, NJ — A sixth location of the MamaSushi chain — which serves unique "Latin sushi" or "Asian-Latino fusion" dishes — is set to open soon on Park Avenue in Union City, near the entrance to the Lincoln Tunnel and north of Hoboken. The new eatery said on Instagram a week ago, "Almost ready to serve you." They said in early August that they'd hold a soft opening this month.

The chain did not return an inquiry last week about which day they will open.

They noted in their latest post on Wednesday afternoon, "Our 'More than Sushi' concept begins in the kitchen through the influences of our executive chef, David Nuñez, who consciously applies his vast experience in the Asian-Latino fusion."

Menu items include sushi rolls, platters, salads, Bento boxes, tacos, steak, tuna, and shrimp dinners, and an array of cocktails. Among the unique sushi rolls are Chapiadora, which includes crispy white cheese, Yuca fries, mixed greens, sweet plantain, avocado, and Asian style Pollo Guisao; and El Croissant, which includes Kani, Jalapeño, onions, Japanese mayo, avocado, sweet plantain, guacamole, and spicy shrimp.

The location is on the Union City side of northern Park Avenue, across the street from Weehawken and up the hill from Hoboken.

Incidentally, for those awaiting a less unique type of Latino food, a new Taco Bell location was spotted earlier this year near the southern end of Hoboken, across from the train station, but it has not yet opened.
