Man Asleep With Car Running, Arrested For DWI: Hoboken Police
The 28-year-old man from Kearny was found "slumped over the wheel" in Hoboken and was charged with DWI.
HOBOKEN, NJ —Hoboken police arrested a 28-year-old man from Kearny on Monday after finding him asleep at the wheel of his running car at 2:01 a.m.
Police said the man was found at 54 Third St., approximately two blocks from the south waterfront.
Police said that Officer Harry Montalvo found a white Honda running, with its headlights on, parked in the area with a man "slumped over the steering wheel."

Montalvo and Lt. Michael Costello, who arrived as his backup, approached the vehicle to investigate. Montalvo woke up the occupant who appeared to have been sleeping.
Police Officer Domenick Allegretta responded and performed a standardized field sobriety test. Officer Allegretta determined that the man was unable to safely operate a motor vehicle.

The man, a 28-year-old Kearny resident, was transported to police headquarters. He supplied the necessary breath samples for chemical testing to Police Officer Giovanni Cruzado.
He received motor vehicle summons for driving while intoxicated and reckless driving. He was released to a responsible person.
