Man Charged With Murder, Robbery In Fatal Jersey City Shooting Of Tenafly Man
A Newark man was charged with murder during commission of a robbery, after a Tenafly man was fatally shot in Jersey City on Nov. 1.

HUDSON COUNTY, NJ — A 22-year-old Newark man has been charged with first-degree murder, as well as murder during the commission of a robbery, in the death of a Tenafly man in Jersey City on Nov. 1.
The Hudson County Prosecutor's office said Thursday that the United States Marshals Service of the New York and New Jersey arrested Roger Pickett Jr. of Newark earlier in the day.
Pickett was charged with first-degree murder in connection with the death of Jovahn Horne, 23, of Tenafly, in Jersey City on. Nov. 1.

Pickett was also charged with:
- Murder during the commission of a robbery
- Inflicting bodily injury while committing a robbery
- Possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose
- Unlawful possession of a weapon
He was arrested at his residence on Evergreen Avenue in Newark and taken to the Hudson County Correctional Facility.

On Tuesday, Nov. 1, around 9:05 p.m., the Jersey City police received a report of shots fired on Dales Avenue, on the city's west side.
Police found Horne in the area of 74 Dales Ave. with a gunshot wound to his abdomen. He was taken to Jersey City Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 9:41 p.m., prosecutors said.
Prosecutor Esther Suarez credited the HCPO’s Homicide Unit, the Jersey City Police Department, and the United States Marshals Service New York/New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force with the arrest and investigation.
