Man Jumped On PATH Train, ‘Narrowly Missed Being Hit’: Witness

A man allegedly climbed on top of a PATH train in Harrison. Service was temporarily suspended, reports said.

HARRISON, NJ — Authorities took a man into custody after he allegedly climbed on top of a PATH train in Harrison late Tuesday evening, according to multiple reports.

Port Authority officials announced Tuesday night that service on the NWK-JSQ was suspended “due to police activity in Harrison.”

“Man jumped on top the train... Jumped off... Narrowly missed being hit by a NJ Transit train, them apprehended by police. 200 yards from Harrison stop. Wild night. It’s been an hour stopped without power or A/C on this train.”

Port Authority police said the “emotionally disturbed” man was held in custody while police searched his belongings. Passengers were transferred to another train and were transported to Newark, or got off at Harrison, nj1015.com reported.

Emergency responders took the man to the hospital. At least two Port Authority officers were injured and some passengers were treated for heat exhaustion, News12 New Jersey reported.
