Man Seen Outside Hoboken School Was Private Investigator: Police

A man was spotted with a camera outside Hoboken Catholic Academy. There was no threat to the safety of children or staff, police said.

HOBOKEN, NJ — Police say a private investigator spotted with a camera outside Hoboken Catholic Academy earlier this week didn’t pose a threat to any children or staff.

According to the Hoboken Police Department, a man was seen with a video recording device on Monday outside of the school, which is located on 7th Street.

Police immediately responded to the school and secured the area. The man wasn’t on the scene when they arrived, authorities said.

Hoboken police were able to identify the man and the vehicle used during the incident, eventually determining that he was a private investigator, and had been looking into a “private matter.”

There was no threat to the safety of children or school staff members, police said.

A Hoboken police spokesperson told Patch that no crime took place. Police were able to confirm the man’s work status as a private investigator, he said.
