The driver of a van carrying mattresses that played a role in a recent fatal tanker crash on the New Jersey Turnpike has been issued a summons, police aid.

Adam Abuhamoud, 26, of Linden, was cited for not having the mattresses properly secured to his vehicle following the Oct. 7 accident, according to nj.com.

The crash near mile marker 109.6 on the Turnpike’s western spur in Kearny killed Dalip Kumar, 40, of Newark, according to the report.
The tractor trailer truck swerved to avoid mattresses on the New Jersey Turnpike before crashing to the side of the roadway, killing the driver, a video shows.

The raging tractor trailer fire on the New Jersey Turnpike on Wednesday afternoon prompted the closure of the northbound Western Spur near Exit 15W in Kearny.
Sgt. Jeff Flynn of the NJ State Police told Patch that the fire was caused when a Honda CRV struck a tanker truck and spilled fuel on the roadway.
After being struck, the truck rolled over onto the right hand shoulder of the road, where it became fully engulfed in flames, Flynn said.
Fire crews were working to get the flames under control, but the entire northbound western spur was shut down, Flynn said.
The accident blocked all lanes at the Turnpike’s interchange with I-280 West, NJ511 stated.
