HOBOKEN, NJ — Hoboken loves its delis, fresh mozzarella, and families. Once a year, all three delights converge for "Mutz Fest" under the 14th Street Viaduct.

Attendees get a punch card to sample cheese from local vendors, amid music and contests.

This year's event, organized in late April by the Hoboken Family Alliance, was a success, organizers say, raising thousands for local programs, including a camp for children with special needs to learn to ride bikes.

Theresa Howard, the special needs programs director for the HFA, said, "We are continually delighted and thankful for the love that the community shows for Hoboken Mutzfest, especially after 14 years. This year was another incredible day and we're so appreciative of all the Mutzmakers who dedicate so much energy into sharing their passion, and to our sponsors who supported the event.

"We're just happy to provide a day of unity, fun, food and the opportunity to raise money for individuals with special needs."

Howard founded the event to run the Hoboken Bike Camp, taking place this year from June 24-28.

Proceeds also go toward other HFA initiatives including its scholarship programs, family events, and toy and backpack drives.

Families who could benefit from the camp can register at www.hobokenfamily.org. You can also use the link to learn about upcoming programs or get involved.
