New Show 'Sinatra The Musical' Will Start With Singer's Local Roots

Tina Sinatra is working with a production team on a new play, "Sinatra The Musical," focusing on the Hoboken native's life story.

HOBOKEN, NJ — That's life. That 's what all the people say. And people are fans of Hoboken-born crooner Frank Sinatra will soon have another way to learn about the late singer. A team of producers plans to write and stage a new musical about his challenges and triumphs.

The crooner's daughter Tina Sinatra is working with the creative team, according to a story in Playbill on Wednesday, which noted, "The musical is set on New Year's Eve 1942 as a 27-year-old Italian-American singer is about to step onto the stage of New York's Paramount Theatre. As Sinatra's career skyrockets, he struggles with balancing the love of his wife, Nancy, against the demands and temptations of his career. When he begins an affair with Ava Gardner, his records stop selling and the press turns against him, but one of the greatest comebacks in showbiz will follow."
