Bergen County Natives Sugarhill Gang Give Unannounced Concert In NJ Yard: VIDEO

HOBOKEN, NJ — Members of the Sugarhlil Gang —whose 1979 song "Rapper's Delight" was the first hip hop tune to reach the Billboard top 40 chart — performed an unannounced concert in a small Hoboken yard Friday night.
The group, which formed in the 1970s in Englewood, N.J., is preparing for their "Eras Of Hip Hop Tour" starting next month. They'll appear in their hometown at the Bergen County Performing Arts Center on Jan. 10.
"Englewood, New Jersey's own groundbreaking pioneers are coming home!" the PAC noted. "This isn't just a concert; it's a living history lesson and a massive hometown celebration."

Master Gee and Hen Dogg performed several old-school hip hop tunes including their most famous hit (see videos below).
The homeowner said the pair were a "friend of friends." Last year, "Naughty By Nature's" Treach performed on Halloween night in the same space.

As a crowd formed on 13th Street, the rappers announced that the police were shutting them down by 8 p.m. Police began telling trick-or-treaters to leave the other clogged streets around the same time.
