NJ Transit Door ‘Randomly’ Opened During Train Ride (Video)
"Never good when that door just randomly opens," a NJ Transit rider wrote.

Are “randomly open” NJ Transit train doors so frequent that they warrant little more than a sideways glance? Or are Garden State commuters just cool customers?
On Friday, a NJ Transit rider on the Northeast Corridor line posted a Twitter video of a train – loaded with passengers – zooming along the track with a wide-open door. “Never good when that door just randomly opens,” @Deluxe8686 wrote. (Watch video below)
In the video, a man in a tan overcoat can be seen leaning casually against a nearby wall, his pants rippling in the breeze from the open door, seemingly unconcerned about the danger.

“Love how the guy just leans there, unfazed,” a journalist quipped.
According to a NJ Transit spokesperson, NEC train #3712 was headed to New York Penn Station when the doors opened around 8:30 a.m. The car was immediately taken out of service; an investigation into the incident continues.

No additional information on the incident or the cause was available as of Monday.
A similar situation with an open door was reported aboard a NJ Transit train on Jan. 5. That incident - also caught on video - took place on a Northeast Corridor train, NorthJersey.com reported.
A NJ Transit spokesperson called the Jan. 5 incident “extremely rare.”
Another open door incident aboard a NJ Transit train was captured on video in May of 2016 during a ride between Newark Liberty International Airport and Metuchen.

you're telling that @NJTRANSIT doesnt have ANY safety mechanisms in place to prevent this from happening? Like a security lock that activates when the train is in motion? & an Alarm that should sound loudly at the conductors & engineer of the train? This could have killed someone

Hey @NJTRANSIT maybe you should stop raising prices and delaying trains and fix doors that open while the train is moving full speed pic.twitter.com/HbnLr2uZNU
