No Vaccinated Hobokenite Has Been Hospitalized For COVID: Mayor
Of the 40 COVID cases reported in Hoboken between Aug. 1 and Aug. 6, 23 were unvaccinated people. Four of those people were hospitalized.

HOBOKEN, NJ —Mayor Ravi Bhalla and the Hoboken Health Department reported Monday that no Hoboken resident who has been fully vaccinated and contracted COVID-19 has been hospitalized.
"(This demonstrates) that the vaccine is working as intended," Bhalla said in a COVID update on social media. "This is all the more of a reason to get vaccinated as soon as possible, if you have not already."
According to the update, 58 new COVID-19 cases were reported in Hoboken between Aug. 3 and Aug. 8. Last Friday, 21 new cases were reported, the most of any day last week.

As of Monday, seven people were hospitalized with COVID at Hoboken University Medical Center, and none was vaccinated.
Of the 40 total COVID-19 cases reported in Hoboken between Aug. 1 and Aug. 6, 23 were unvaccinated people, and four were hospitalized. Seventeen of the cases last week were breakthrough cases in vaccinated people, the health department announced.

From July 30 to Aug. 6, the health department reported 79 cases of COVID in Hoboken. The age group with the most cases was 17 to 30 year olds, which had 41 cases. There were 18 cases in the 31 to 40 age group. The age-group breakdown for the week of July 30 to Aug. 6 was:
Ages 16 and under: nine cases
Ages 17 to 30: 41 cases
Ages 31 to 40: 18 cases
Ages 41 to 50: seven cases
Ages 51 to 60: two cases
Ages 61 to 75: zero cases
Ages 76 and up: two cases
Through Sunday, 77 percent of adults in Hoboken (ages 18 and over) had received at least one dose of the vaccine, while 71 percent of adults were fully vaccinated, according to the health department.
The Hoboken Health Department also released a list of places where COVID transmissions may have occurred based on contact tracing of residents who contracted the virus. The list includes:
- Exposed via another household or family contact
- Attended the St. Ann's Feast
- Attended a large event such as BBQ, baby shower, wedding, sports venue or crowded bar
- Attended social gatherings of family and friends
- Traveled to the Jersey Shore and upstate New York
- Traveled both domestic and international
- Children were exposed at extracurricular activities, daycare and summer camp
Through Sunday, the Hoboken Health Department reported that the city had 5,252 confirmed cases of COVID-19 since the beginning of the pandemic, and 52 deaths.
