TEMECULA, CA — On the verge of releasing her new album, "You Seem Pretty Sad For A Girl So In Love," Southern California native Olivia Rodrigo is teasing (or trolling) her fans by placing "love locks" — pink locks bearing her initials — around the world.

We found a spot in her hometown of Temecula where love locks are often placed, and if you don't find one, you can leave one of your own.

Recently, fans of the 23-year-old "Deja Vu" singer began finding pink, heart-shaped locks bearing Rodrigo's initials around the world, sparking rumors of a forthcoming album or tour. Fans have already found two of the locations: Los Angeles, Calif., and a park in Hoboken, N.J., that offers views of the New York skyline.

On Monday, Rodrigo posted videos to Instagram saying she had hidden locks in Los Angeles, London, Paris, and New York.

While you go love lock hunting, Rodrigo has created a "You Look Pretty Sad For A Girl So In Love" Spotify playlist to listen to. The playlist notably includes her Glastonbury Festival performance from last summer, when she duetted with "Cure" singer-songwriter Robert Smith on "Friday I'm In Love" and "Just Like Heaven."

Meanwhile, local Olivia Rodrigo fans who want to get in on the trend can leave their "love lock" on fences across the country in advance of the June 12 release of the album.

Fans have recognized the "New York" location as the Hoboken waterfront.

Followers of the singer have flocked to locations on both coasts, all while trying to guess the symbolism of the locks.

On Wednesday, one fan, Emma Hernandez, 25, was at the Hoboken waterfront park in search of the pink lock.

"These are the only railings that match the scene in the video," she told Patch.

Hernandez said she has lived in Hoboken for three years, so it wasn't hard to come search.

But she was unable to find the lock, theorizing — as many fans have — that someone already swiped it.

Where Else?

The love lock fence in Temecula, Calif., Olivia Rodrigo's hometown, is at C'est La Vie inside Europa Village Wineries & Resort, 33475 La Serena Way, and is nearly full, says General Manager John Goldsmith.

C'est La Vie Winery follows that tradition established in Paris, where residents and tourists alike declare their love for each other by writing their names on a lock, attaching it to the Pont des Arts bridge, and throwing the key into the Seine River.

"We will be adding more lock fences soon," Goldsmith told Patch. He was mum about whether Rodrigo had been by the winery or not to leave a lock with her initials there. Even still, Goldsmith suggests that when you go, you customize your lock, write a sweet message, and seal your love forever.

Sealing your love forever? Is that what the pop star is singing about?

In New Jersey, more love locks are hanging out on Pier C, located at 340 Sinatra Drive, opened in late 2007, part of the ongoing revitalization of the city's waterfront after the shipping industry left.

The "love locks" tradition apparently started in Paris and spread to New York and other areas, according to the New York Times.

Fans reported that Rodrigo's lock had already been swiped from the New Jersey location. So now they're looking for locks in all the wrong places.
O.R. they, though?

Influencer Aubrey Violeta said in a video, "Maybe a new one will pop up. We'll see."
