Pedestrian Hit By Car In Hoboken; Driver Charged With DWI
A pedestrian was taken to the hospital after being hit by a vehicle in Hoboken. The driver was found slumped over a block away, police said.

HOBOKEN, NJ — A Roselle man was charged with DWI and three other offenses after striking a pedestrian in Hoboken on Sunday night, the Hoboken police said Tuesday.
Jamil Simms, 31, of Roselle was charged with assault by auto, driving while intoxicated, refusal to submit breath samples, and reckless driving, police said.
Police said that offers Domenick Allegretta and Tyrone Huggins responded at 9 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 11, to Seventh and Adams streets on a report of a hit-and-run.

The pedestrian was "being assessed for non-life threating injuries by an ambulance," police said. The victim was later transported to a local hospital.
Police said the vehicle that hit the pedestrian was not at the scene. But they were able to locate it a block away, they said.

"The driver, Jamil Simms, was slumped over the wheel," police said. "After an on-scene investigation took place Mr. Simms was placed under arrest for driving under the influence."
Simms was later released on a summons to a responsible party, police said.
