PHOTOS: More Flooding Predicted For Hoboken Area Friday Afternoon

HOBOKEN, NJ — As rain continued to fall Friday morning, the National Weather Service issued a coastal flood statement for noon Friday until 3 p.m. for Hudson County, eastern Essex, and eastern Union County in New Jersey.

When there's flooding in the area, it's often at high tide. High tide in Hudson County during the storm is expected at 1:55 p.m. Friday.

Even at low tide on Friday morning, large puddles were forming and corners were flooding in low-lying areas of Hoboken, such as near Tenth and Madison streets.

THIS AFTERNOON...

• WHAT...Up to one half foot of inundation above ground level
  expected in vulnerable areas near the waterfront and shoreline.
• WHERE...In New Jersey, Hudson, Eastern Essex and Eastern Union
  Counties. In New York, Richmond (Staten Island) and Kings
  (Brooklyn) Counties.
• WHEN...From noon today to 3 PM EST this afternoon.
• IMPACTS...Brief minor flooding of the most vulnerable locations
  near the waterfront and shoreline.
• PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...Do not drive through flooded roadways.

A briefing from the NWS Thursday said that 1.44 inches of rain was expected for the Newark region. 37 MPH wind gusts are predicted for Hudson County on Friday afternoon.
