Followup Message Thursday Afternoon

However, on Thursday afternoon, Superintendent Johnson released an update:

Dear Hoboken Public School District Families,

As I indicated in my email yesterday, the Hoboken Police Department assured me that they would provide an update regarding yesterday's incident to share with families. I received the following message from the Chief of Police, Steven Aguiar:

The Hoboken Police Department has concluded its investigation into reports of an interaction between a student and an individual in a white van on Madison Street yesterday. After a thorough investigation, which included identifying the person driving the van in question, no malicious intent has been found and no charges are being filed. The HPD would like to thank the Hoboken Public School District for its cooperation during this investigation.

In closing, I understand that sometimes when an email goes out that does not contain specifics, it generates more questions and often concern. I will try and assist in any way that I can, but when it comes to a police matter, I am only able to put out the information that is provided to me by the police. Often early in an investigation, the facts are limited.

Thank you for your patience and understanding. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out and I will do my best to answer or connect your with someone who can best help you.
