Police: Man Steals Bedsheets From Hoboken Apartment

Detectives witnessed the repeat offender emerge from a Willow Avenue building with a black garbage bag.

Hoboken police arrested a Jersey City man on Wednesday for stealing a six-piece Egyptian cotton towel set from a Willow Avenue apartment building.

According to police, detectives on partol observed Craig Davis, 55, carrying a green canvas bag and looking into gated areas and building vestibules as he walked down the street.

Recognizing Davis from prior arrests for thefts from other multi-unit apartment complexes, detectives followed him and saw him stop in the area of 1017 Willow Ave., where a mail truck had been delivering packages.

The detectives then witnessed Davis cross the street, case the area and cross back over and enter the vestibule of the building.

After emerging from the building, Davis repeated the process at 611 Willow Ave, said police.

When he left the second building, Davis had a black garbage bag.

After stopping Davis and searching the bag, police found a six-piece Egyptian cotton towel set, valued at $112.

Davis was arrested and charged with burglary, theft and criminal attempt burglary.

He was transported to Hudson County Jail and held on $30,000 bail.
