Woman Who Was Missing For 6 Months Found By Hudson County Reddit Group
2 missing Hudson County women were found recently thanks to vigilant residents, including one who saw the person at a New Jersey mall.

HUDSON COUNTY, NJ — When you see something, say something. That's what two vigilant bystanders did during the last week in February when they responded to messages from police seeking information on two different missing women in North Jersey.
On Feb. 26, a Jersey City police officer posted on Reddit that a 30-year-old woman had been missing for six months. Apparently, her loved ones were worried about her.
The officer explained that he was using unconventional methods to try to find her.

A user in a Jersey City Reddit group promptly responded that he actually saw the woman all the time.

"Missing since August?" the person wrote in response. "She's always sitting at Newport on the couches or on the food court. I see her every single time I'm walking to the movie theater."
The officer responded, "Yes!! She has in fact been missing since August. Can you immediately contact me at the 551 number the next time you see her? Doesn't matter the time of day. Thank you!!"
"Will do," the Redditor wrote. "She's usually sitting outside Macy's or up on the third floor on the weekend when I go to the movies if anyone passes by and checks."
The officer responded, "I (and the family) pray that your information checks out. Someone is going to respond over shortly in the hopes of locating her."
Later that day, the officer posted good news: "Due to a keen eye in the Reddit community, she has been located!! Thank you so much for your assistance."
But was it realy that simple?
Reddit users were understandably confused about whether the whole thread was a gag.
"Wait she was missing since August but was in the Newport mall the whole time and some random on Reddit was the only person who figured that out?" wrote one person.
Another person chimed in, "So she was actually literally and physically found today?"
The officer responded, "Yes she was literally and physically found today."
He added that she hadn't been at the Newport Centre Mall the entire time, but he couldn't reveal all of the private information.
City spokesperson Kim Wallace-Scalcione confirmed this week that the woman was indeed located through the help of Jersey City Reddit.
"Yes, police officers from the JCPD’s Missing Persons Unit will utilize all avenues possible to help amplify their efforts when searching for a missing person," she told Patch on Monday. "A JCPD Detective posted the information, and it helped to locate the missing woman successfully."

Another Woman Found That Week
In a separate incident the same week, the North Bergen police told the media on Monday, Feb. 26 they were searching for a 58-year-old woman from their town who has schizophrenia.
Within two days of the story being reported, someone had told police that she'd been seen "shivering" on a bench at Washington Park, a park between Jersey City Heights and Union City.
Someone gave a tip to police, a town spokesperson confirmed for Patch. Police searched the area and found her soon after.
