Rep. Albio Sires Of NJ Joins Congressional Budget Committee
U.S. Rep. Albio Sires, a Democrat from District 8, will serve on the high-impact committee responsible for enacting the national budget.

U.S. Rep. Albio Sires has been appointed to serve on the House Budget Committee for the 116th Congress, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi announced Wednesday.
Sires, a member of the Democratic party, represents New Jersey’s 8th congressional district, which includes the municipalities of Bayonne, Belleville, East Newark, Elizabeth, Fairview, Guttenberg, Harrison, Hoboken, Newark, North Bergen, Union City, Weehawken, West New York, Jersey City and Kearny.
Sires will continue to serve on the Committee on Foreign Affairs and the Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure.

According to Sires’ office, the Committee on the Budget is responsible for enacting budget policy and legislative oversight over the nation’s budget. The annual budget resolution to set levels of federal spending falls under the jurisdiction of the Budget Committee. More information can be found on the committee website.
“I am honored to join the House Budget Committee and look forward to working with my colleagues as we examine our nation’s fiscal policies,” Sires said. “The Budget Committee provides much needed oversight and I am committed to ensuring that American tax dollars are spent on effective programs that make a difference in communities.”
